These Three devices are very similar that's why sometimes it is very difficult to understand which device should we use?  So let's discuss, What is Hub, Switch and Router and their difference.

1. HUB

Hub is a simple and cheap networking broadcast device that works under a physical layer of the OSI model. Hub is a device that helps to connect all of your network devices together. Hub has multiple ports that also accept Ethernet connection. Hub is not an intelligent device because it does not filter any data. That's why this is not possible to send data from one computer to a particular another computer. This network is similar to WhatsApp group because we saw that we cannot send any personal information to the WhatsApp group if we want to send a personal message to the WhatsApp group, so there everyone can see this message.

Networking
So just for example, if Pc-1 computer only wants to communicate with Pc-4 computer, these (Pc-2 and Pc-4) other computers would still receive the data, which data is not needed for them. This happens not only creates security concerns but it also creates unnecessary traffic on the the network that wastes bandwidth.



2.Switch

A switch is a multicast networking device, which works under the data-link layer of the OSI model that connects a bunch of computers or devices in a network. The switch has multiple ports and it also accepts Ethernet connections from network devices. the switch is very intelligent, it’s not like a hub because a switch can actually learn the physical addresses of the devices. That’s why you can send data privately from one computer to another computer.
             So just for example, if the Pc-1 computer wants to communicate with the Pc-4 computer. Here at first, the data packet arrives at the switch and then the switch will look at its table of mac addresses and matching ports and deliver the data to the correct port and then the data packet would only go to that computer. That means another computer can't read that data, so here data security is better.
             So, the major difference between hub and switch is. Switch can reduce any unnecessary traffic on the network but which is not possible for hub.

3.Router

The router is a networking device that works under the network layer of the OSI model and it’s used to connect two or more different networks. A router that routes or forwards data from one network to another based on their IP address. When a data packet is received from the router, the router inspects the data’s IP address and determines if the packet was meant for its own network for if it's meant for another network. If the route it determines that the data packet is meant for its own network it receives it. but if it's not meant for its own network it sends to another network.
                 Now the question is how the Router differs from Switch and Hub?
Hub and Switch are a networking device which is used to connect PC or any devices on the same network. But the router is a device, which is used to connect two or more different networks.
